Tèren is a is a large cultural center in New Orleans that would house programs including theatres, auditoriums, housing, commercial spaces, a greenhouse, a farm, galleries, a library and community spaces. The form was created based off of existing city grid lines and the path of the park next to the site. The project is essentially a garden path with multiple buildings where all of the programs are covered by a canopy that is held up by thin metal tree-like columns.
The first level of Tèren would have mostly commercial programs including restaurants, stores, and galleries. The second floor would contain mostly housing and each of these blocks would be centered around a full height space that would contain some of the larger and more community-oriented programs such as the theatres, auditoriums, galleries, community space, library, and greenhouse/farm. There would a curved canopy held up by thin metal tree like columns on top over all of these levels with open spaces over where the three existing structures are. These different sections of the building would be separated by paths full of greenery based off of the existing city grid and the path of the park next to the site.
